Value of construction work falls in March

ABS data has found a fall in the value of construction work done in the March quarter 2019.

For total construction work, the trend estimate fell 2.4%, to $50,661.1 million. The seasonally adjusted estimate fell 1.9% to $50,787.9 million in the March quarter.

For total building work done, the trend estimate fell 0.9%, and the seasonally adjusted estimate fell 0.4% to $29,835.1 million. There was a rise in the trend estimate for non-residential building by 1.6%, while residential building work fell 2.4%.

The trend estimate for engineering work fell 4.0% to $20,972.4 million. A fall was also recorded for the seasonally adjusted estimate of 3.9% in the March quarter.
